About The Position

The Patient Transporter is responsible for transporting patients and their belongings, hospital equipment, laboratory specimens, and expired patient and medical charts to designated areas throughout the hospital campus as needed. The role works with patients, family members, and staff to support patient safety and timely arrivals and departures, and contributes to compassionate, personalized, and efficient care.

Requirements

• CPR certification or ability to obtain it within 90 days.
• Ability to communicate well with others.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patient family members and staff to ensure patient safety and expedite the timely arrival and departure of patients.
• Transport discharged and transferred patients, along with their belongings, to designated areas.
• Transport patients to and from clinics and departments for medical tests in a timely manner, along with required patient equipment and medical charts.
• Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors, and adhere to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, including budget specifications for time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
• Promote professional growth and development by meeting mandatory and continuing education requirements and maintaining skills competency.
• Support department-based goals that contribute to organizational success.
• Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
• Model Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
