The Transporter moves patients and materials throughout hospital areas while meeting individual average transport-time guidelines set by network leadership and campus needs. The role maintains transport equipment and supplies, follows applicable regulations and safety and patient-care protocols, and meets customer-service and quality standards in communications with patients, staff, and the public. Transporters move patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or chair, as well as handle non-patient moves to and from designated areas or departments. They use proper body mechanics, take steps to ensure patient safety during transfers, document transports accurately, and provide complete handoffs to clinical staff. The role also involves communicating with patients and care-team members, using company-issued mobile devices and electronic medical record systems, and potentially performing dispatch duties. Transporters maintain and sanitize wheelchairs and stretchers, report malfunctions promptly, and remove faulty equipment from service. They must follow HonorHealth Standards of Conduct, demonstrate ICARE values, and comply with PPE and patient-handling guidelines.
