Patient Transporter, Multiple Shifts Available

About The Position

The Transporter provides safe, reliable, and courteous transportation to patients throughout the medical complex. The employee will receive training and must demonstrate competency in moving of patients, including neonatal, pediatric (birth - 11 years), adolescents (12 - 17 years), adults (18 - 65 years), and geriatric (66 years and older). The Transporter must be knowledgeable of department/hospital policies and procedures. They will guide their own professional growth and continuing education.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
  • Must have the ability to learn and use the tele tracking and hospital information systems appropriately

Nice To Haves

  • Prior hospital transport experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Identifies patient’s physical and emotional conditions and needs and adapts patient care (i.e. dressing, lifting, moving, monitoring for comfort and safety) accordingly
  • Ability to recognize change in patient status and report appropriate information to nursing
  • Demonstrates correct body mechanics and lifting techniques
  • Ability to adapt communication style to meet specific individual patient needs
  • Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a culture of patient safety
  • Builds and maintains good working relationships with all customers, internal and external, and presents a professional, congenial attitude
  • Ability to identify potential safety concerns and escalate accordingly
  • Ability to identify potential patient satisfaction issues and address or escalate accordingly
