About The Position

A Patient Escort securely transports conscious, unconscious, or semi-conscious patients via wheelchairs or gurneys between rooms, treatment areas, and diagnostics within a hospital or clinic, ensuring safety and comfort. They assist with patient lifting/positioning, manage equipment, and provide compassionate service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Physical Strength: Ability to stand/walk for long periods, lift heavy objects, and push patients in wheelchairs or beds.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification will be provided by supervisor
• Skills: Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Patient Transport: Moves patients to/from nursing units, operating rooms, radiology, and labs, or to discharge vehicles.
• Patient Assistance: Assists with lifting, transferring, and positioning patients, including using portable lifts.
• Safety & Compliance: Adheres to infection control, safety policies, patient confidentiality (HIPAA), and maintains proper patient identification.
• Equipment Management: Maintains, cleans, and reports defects in wheelchairs, stretchers, and transport equipment.
• Communication: Communicates with dispatchers, nurses, and staff to provide updates on transport status.
