PATIENT TRANSPORTER (FULL TIME AND PART TIME)
About The Position
TouchPoint Support Services is hiring full-time and part-time Patient Transporters at Henry Ford St John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. The role facilitates internal hospital patient moves and is responsible for transporting patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items safely, accurately, and on time. Transporters use wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock, secure patients and associated equipment such as IVs and drainage tubes, and demonstrate competency in transporting patients across specific age groups. They communicate with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, reception, and dispatch; attend to patient comfort and modesty; alert nursing staff to signs of distress or equipment malfunction; maintain transport equipment; and comply with regulatory requirements, confidentiality rules, and patients’ rights policies. Training is offered. The fixed pay rate is $15.00 per hour. Schedules are Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary and rotating weekends included; further details are provided upon interview.

Responsibilities
- Safely and properly transport patients, secure IVs and drainage tubes, and secure patients.
- Use wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to transport patients.
- Demonstrate competency in transporting all specific age groups.
- Transport patients to their destinations safely, accurately, and on time using the proper requested equipment.
- Communicate effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, reception, and dispatch.
- Attend to patient comfort, offer blankets, maintain modesty, and engage only in appropriate conversation involving patients; do not transport patients in severe pain.
- Immediately alert nursing staff to signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
- Maintain equipment and report equipment needing repairs.
- Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO requirements.
- Follow facility confidentiality and patient-rights policies as outlined in HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
