PATIENT TRANSPORTER (FULL AND PART TIME)
About The Position
Crothall Healthcare is hiring Patient Transporters at Hendrick Medical Center North in Abilene, Texas. The Patient Transporter facilitates internal hospital patient moves and is responsible for safely, promptly, and accurately transporting patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations. This role uses wheelchairs and other approved rolling equipment, communicates with clinical and support personnel, and helps ensure patient comfort and safety. No prior experience is required. The position is available on full-time and part-time schedules; days and hours may vary. The fixed pay rate is $15.00 per hour.

- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, secure IVs and drainage tubes, and secure patients appropriately.
- Use wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to transport patients.
- Demonstrate competency in transporting patients of all specific age groups.
- Transport patients safely, promptly, and accurately to their destinations using the requested equipment.
- Communicate effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, reception, and dispatch.
- Attend to patient comfort by offering blankets, maintaining modesty, and engaging only in appropriate conversation; do not transport patients in severe pain.
- Immediately alert nursing staff to signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
- Maintain equipment and report equipment requiring repair.
- Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO requirements.
- Follow facility confidentiality and patient-rights policies as outlined in facility HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
