About The Position
Xanitos, Inc. is hiring part-time Patient Transporters, Patient Sitters, and Housekeepers at UPMC Altoona in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Part-time employees are scheduled three days a week for eight-hour shifts, which may include weekends; hours are subject to change. EVS and Transport roles begin with a 90-day temp-to-hire period. Patient Sitters provide visual and audible observation of assigned patients, aligned with a Registered Nurse and directed by the Xanitos leadership team. Patient Transporters safely, timely, and accurately transport patients, specimens, supplies, medical equipment, and patient-related items. They support clinical staff, maintain patient and customer satisfaction, and follow proper body mechanics as well as Xanitos, hospital, department, and regulatory policies and procedures. Hospital Housekeepers clean and maintain orderly facilities or locations throughout the client’s health care campus. Qualified applicants must complete a fingerprint scan and clear a Child Abuse Report. Post-offer medical screening, background screening, and a drug test are required. The work may involve exposure to blood and body fluids while transporting patients, moving mechanical parts, and chemicals requiring special clothing or safety equipment. The work environment is usually quiet. The role requires extended standing and walking, frequent lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds, and regularly assisting staff with moving patients using approved lifting devices. Requirements
- Complete a fingerprint scan and clear a Child Abuse Report.
- Complete post-offer medical screening, background screening, and a drug test.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to frequently climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- Required visual abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the medical EVS industry.
- Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide visual and audible observation of assigned patients in alignment with a Registered Nurse and under the direction of the Xanitos leadership team.
- Safely, promptly, and accurately transport patients, specimens, supplies, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations.
- Support physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists so they can perform their duties effectively.
- Maintain a high level of patient and customer satisfaction.
- Follow proper body mechanics and applicable Xanitos, hospital, department, and regulatory policies, procedures, and standards.
- Clean and maintain orderly facilities or locations throughout the client’s health care campus.
- Assist staff members and use approved lifting devices to lift or move patients.
