About The Position

The Support Services department helps ensure the timely and efficient transport of patients, materials, and equipment throughout the hospital and other assigned locations. The team also supports communication and service coordination for departments including Environmental Services and Engineering. Under the direct supervision of the Support Services Manager, Supervisor, and Lead, this role performs a variety of Patient Transport duties in accordance with established procedures and service standards. This position helps support a high level of patient care and operational efficiency by providing safe, timely, and professional transport services throughout the hospital.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal directions in English, with sufficient comprehension to understand job-specific forms, documents, signs, symbols, and written instructions
  • Ability to recognize emergency and urgent situations and respond and communicate clearly so others understand
  • Ability to work well with others, follow instructions, and remain flexible based on hospital needs
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association required prior to hire
  • Valid California driver’s license required for team members authorized to operate Hoag vehicles

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous patient transport experience preferred
  • Basic math skills preferred
  • Knowledge of the 24-hour time system preferred

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients, materials, and equipment throughout the hospital and assigned locations in a safe, timely, and professional manner
  • Perform shift preparation duties, including rounding assigned floors and completing downtime tasks as needed
  • Support department operations in a way that meets and exceeds hospital service expectations and aligns with the organization’s code of conduct
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical teams to support patient flow and operational needs
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and changing situations in the hospital environment
  • Assist with training new Patient Transport team members as assigned
  • Maintain professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct
  • Perform other duties as assigned
