About The Position

Millwood Hospital (a UHS affiliated hospital) is a 134-bed mental health facility that provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment. Millwood’s caring, and multidisciplinary staff has successfully provided inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency care to children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults since 1971. Millwood Hospital is located in Arlington, TX in the heart of the city. It is 5 minutes away from AT&T Stadium home of the Dallas Cowboys. The hospital is less than 35 minutes from DFW International Airport. Millwood Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited hospital with a solid reputation in the community and is part of one of the nation’s largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services, Universal Health Services, Inc. We are seeking a dependable and professional Patient Transport Van Driver to transport behavioral health patients safely and efficiently on a PRN (as-needed) schedule. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, strong customer service abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all passengers. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care by ensuring reliable transportation within our DFW community.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • Clean Driving Record (Verifiable)
  • Ability to pass initial and periodic drug screening
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients and team members.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks associated with transporting patients.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and adherence to safety standards in previous driving roles.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience working with mental health populations of all ages preferred.
  • One (1) year experience driving passenger van preferred (up to 15 passengers)
  • Basic mechanical knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate shuttle van to transport patients between facilities, appointments, and community locations.
  • Assist patients with boarding and disembarking, providing courteous support while ensuring their safety throughout transit.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform basic maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to maintain a secure transportation environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and vehicle condition in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and other stakeholders to coordinate schedules and address any transportation needs or concerns.
  • Handle heavy lifting when assisting patients with mobility devices or luggage as required.
