About The Position

As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for positioning, transferring and transporting patients to and from various departments or locations by wheelchair, bed, or gurney. You may also perform teaching and training functions, dispatching function, and limited clerical duties for the transport function. Other role requirements include: Equipment maintenance and cleaning or disinfection Deliver and pick-up specimens, blood, medical equipment, medical records, medications, and various other items Transport deceased patients to the morgue.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact diplomatically and sensitively with acutely ill patients.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills to perform data entry and to obtain information from Hospital Systems utilizing a personal computer.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift a minimum of 150 pounds.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques sustaining a safe work environment for self and co-workers.
  • Skilled in English language in both written and verbal format.
  • Good comprehension of written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to strictly obey healthcare regulations for Infection Control, and follow UCLA Policies and Procedures.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
  • Current/former UC employees are subject to a personnel file review.
