Patient Transport Associate - Part Time

About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is hiring a part-time Patient Transport Associate. The role transports patients, supplies, and laboratory items throughout the facility safely and efficiently. The associate provides patient comfort, handles patients calmly and reassuringly, and assists with transfers to and from bedside using the appropriate mode of transportation. The role also assists with mail delivery as needed. The associate follows shift assignments, break, and lunch schedules; meets established transport response and completion guidelines; reports and codes transport delays or cancellations using the Transport Tracking system; and confirms patient identification according to the Ticket to Ride procedure before transport. The associate manages transport equipment, sanitizes it after use, and returns it to the designated storage area. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Basic computer skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of transport or related experience.

Responsibilities

Transport patients, supplies, and laboratory items safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
Provide patient comfort and handle patients in a calm and reassuring manner.
Assist with patient transfers to and from bedside using the correct mode of transportation.
Assist with mail delivery as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Log in and out on time and follow the shift assignment, break, and lunch schedule.
Complete transports within established response and completion guidelines.
Report transport delays or cancellations to the receiving department and code them in the Transport Tracking system.
Establish patient identification according to the Ticket to Ride procedure before starting transport.
Manage transport equipment, clean and sanitize it after use, and return it to the proper storage area when not in use.
