About The Position

EmergeOrtho is seeking a full-time Patient Support Specialist for its Shipyard office in the Coastal region. This role involves greeting and assisting patients and visitors, checking them in for appointments, verifying demographics and insurance, and collecting payments. The specialist will also be responsible for completing daily reports to ensure office efficiency. EmergeOrtho is committed to being a trusted leader in comprehensive musculoskeletal care across North Carolina.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent previous experience.
  • Sound communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Experience and knowledge of insurance guidelines and insurance entry.
  • Ability to handle high patient volumes.
  • Ability to maintain composure when stressful situations are encountered.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a check-in specialist is recommended.
  • Experience in financial collections is recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and visitors in person or by phone.
  • Answering or referring inquiries.
  • Checking in patients for appointments by confirming time, reviewing and verifying demographics, confirming insurance eligibility, and collecting due balances, deposits, and co-payments.
  • Scheduling appointments.
  • Preparing and reviewing charts for appointments.
  • Processing orders.
  • Maintaining professional communication with staff and providers regarding patient needs.
  • Maintaining a pleasant and cooperative demeanor.
  • Keeping patient appointments on schedule by notifying providers of patient arrival and reminding them of service delays.
  • Comforting patients by anticipating anxieties and answering questions.
  • Maintaining the reception area.
  • Ensuring availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Maintaining patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Maintaining business office inventory and equipment by checking stock, anticipating supplies, placing orders, verifying receipt, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Helping patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Protecting patient rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintaining operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes.
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Performing other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned.
  • Completing assigned daily reports to maintain office efficiency.
