Hospital sitters are essential functions of the patient care team, providing continuous supervision, basic care and emotional support. Often rotating through out the different units, the sitter is responsible for observation of the patients who have been assessed to potentially cause harm to themselves, fall risk. Escort to them via transports to outside hospital facility. The sitter functions under the direct supervision of the nurse responsible for the care of the patient.
