About The Position

SummitRidge Hospital is seeking a dependable and compassionate PRN / As-Needed Patient Sitter to join our Nursing team. The Patient Sitter provides continuous observation and supportive supervision of patients to help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. This position is ideal for someone who is flexible, attentive, and committed to patient safety and dignity. The Patient Sitter provides continuous, one-to-one, or close observation of assigned patients as directed by clinical staff, maintains a safe environment by monitoring patient behavior and promptly reporting concerns to the nursing team, assists in reducing the risk of harm to self or others through attentive observation and timely intervention, communicates clearly and professionally with patients, nursing staff, and the care team, follows facility policies, safety procedures, and direction from licensed personnel, documents observations and report changes in patient status as required, and supports a calm, respectful, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to report to work for this on-call position within 30 minutes of being contacted
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required
  • Ability to remain alert, calm, and professional in a fast-paced environment
  • Dependable, flexible, and able to work independently while following instructions
  • Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, patient care, or a related healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities
