About The Position
The Patient Services Specialist at Atrium Health Shelby Family Medicine in Boiling Springs is a full-time position responsible for creating an excellent patient experience through compassionate customer service. This role involves managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, cash receipting, and handling patient check-in/check-out. The specialist will also encourage patient use of front-end technology, maintain accurate patient information, assist with billing functions, and monitor inventory of medications and emergency equipment. The position requires strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and knowledge of healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Computer experience required.
- Customer relations experience required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Medical Records Software preferred.
- Front desk practice experience preferred.

- Manage patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience.
- Encourage patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process.
- Enter and maintain confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter.
- Assist billing functions accurately and/or direct to appropriate billing office.
- Demonstrate proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations.
- Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
