This position is FT 40 hours per week with a variable weekly schedule. Three weeks rotating between 0700-1530, 0800-1700, and 0830-1700. The Patient Services Specialist will exemplify caring and compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience. They will provide exemplary interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with patients and families in a wide variety of sensitive situations. This role demonstrates critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment and possesses the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision. The specialist manages patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience. They will encourage patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process, enter and maintain confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout the patient encounter, and assist with billing functions accurately and/or direct to the appropriate billing office. The role also demonstrates proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses, as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations. Additionally, the specialist will monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
