About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist will exemplify caring and compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience. This role provides exemplary interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with patients and families in a wide variety of sensitive situations. The specialist demonstrates critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment and possesses the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, and arrival/departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines, ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience. The role also encourages patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process, enters and maintains confidential and accurate patient information, assists with billing functions, and demonstrates proficiency of emergency codes and applicable healthcare regulations. Additionally, the specialist monitors inventory and stock of medications and emergency equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Computer experience required
  • Customer relations experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Medical Records Software preferred
  • Front desk practice experience preferred

  • Encourage patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process
  • Enter and maintain confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter
  • Assist with billing functions accurately and/or direct to appropriate billing office
  • Demonstrate proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations
  • Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment
