About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist at Atrium Health Huntersville Outpatient is responsible for delivering caring and compassionate customer service to ensure an excellent patient experience. This role requires strong interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and families in various sensitive situations, along with critical thinking and decisive judgment in a dynamic environment. Key duties include managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collections, and cash receipting, all while adhering to established standards for accuracy and patient satisfaction. The specialist will also encourage the use of front-end technology during registration, maintain confidential patient information, assist with billing, and demonstrate knowledge of emergency codes and healthcare regulations. Additionally, the position involves monitoring inventory and stocking medications and equipment. This is a part-time, as-needed (PRN) position, covering multiple locations within the Greater Charlotte Market, including opening and closing responsibilities in Charlotte, Huntersville, Matthews, Concord, and Monroe areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Computer experience required
  • Customer relations experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Medical Records Software preferred
  • Front desk practice experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients and families in a wide variety of sensitive situations
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment and possess the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Manages patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience
  • Encourages patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process
  • Enters and maintains confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter
  • Assists billing functions accurately and/or directs to appropriate billing office
  • Demonstrates proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations
  • Monitors inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment
