The Patient Services Representative (PSR) is responsible for performing all job duties in a way that conforms to the customer service philosophy and consistent with "AIDET" standards. This role involves greeting and acknowledging patients and family members, introducing them to services, providing information on expected wait times, and explaining the need for demographic, socio-economic, and financial information while ensuring data privacy. The PSR is responsible for identifying insurance coverage, benefits, patient out-of-pocket expenses, and collecting co-insurance and co-payments. They utilize electronic systems to confirm coverage, resolve eligibility issues, and screen uninsured patients for urgent status, following charity procedures and referring for financial counseling as needed. The role also involves screening orders for compliance, working with healthcare professionals to resolve issues, and obtaining security authorization and precertification for services. Additionally, the PSR maintains knowledge of insurance requirements, federal and state regulations, and ensures accurate entry of patient demographic and insurance information in the ADT system. They also manage incoming and outgoing calls for pre-registrations and generate/assemble required documents. The position requires participation in departmental team building, in-services, and assisting leaders with special assignments. For registrars at offsite imaging centers, additional duties include performing Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE), light cleaning of changing areas, printing and distributing patient results CDs, and escorting patients to changing areas.
