About The Position

Join a dynamic team at MGH providing essential support to patient access operations. In this role, you’ll be managing referrals, scheduling new patients, verifying insurance, and ensuring smooth communication. Performs administrative functions to support smooth and efficient care of patients in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Performs a variety of tasks supporting the scheduling of new patients. May assist with general administrative practice support, as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • office experience 2-3 years required
  • Proficiency with all Office Suite
  • Knowledge of office operations and standards and understanding of office procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing and faxing.
  • Ability to use phone system and manage more non-routine phone calls and solve routine issues as appropriate.
  • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience and talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents, to correspond and communicate with others clearly and effectively (including composing/editing e-mail, memos and letters), and to take complete and accurate messages.
  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Well organized and good time management skills to manage multiple tasks effectively, follow established protocols, and work within systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong customer service or healthcare experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Epic is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Answering the main phone line, assisting callers with routine questions and routing other calls accordingly.
  • Reviewing new patient requests and scheduling with the appropriate provider.
  • Assisting with records collection and preparation prior to new patient consults.
  • Processing patient billing forms and scanning documents to patient medical record.
  • May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level.
