About The Position

This full-time position is within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle Department, specifically focusing on Oncology services. The role is crucial for creating an excellent patient experience through compassionate customer service, managing various administrative tasks, and ensuring accuracy in patient information and financial processes. The Patient Service Specialist will interact with patients and families in sensitive situations, utilize critical thinking and independent judgment in a fast-paced environment, and work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Computer experience required.
Customer relations experience required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Medical Records Software preferred.
Front desk practice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients and families in a wide variety of sensitive situations.
Demonstrate critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment and possess the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision.
Manage patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience.
Encourage patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process.
Enter and maintain confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter.
Assist with billing functions accurately and/or direct to appropriate billing office.
Demonstrate proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations.
Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
