The Patient Service Specialist is responsible for reviewing and documenting patient identification, placing armbands on patients, and using effective communication skills when interacting with patients, visitors, co-workers, management, and physicians. This role ensures compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations pertaining to the registration process and information flow. The specialist also provides continuity in departmental operations, refers patients to appropriate services like Patient Financial Resource Services (PFRS) and Drug List Techs, and provides age/developmentally appropriate assistance to families, patients, and visitors. They contribute to a caring and compassionate environment within the department.
