The Patient Services Specialist will exemplify caring and compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience. This role requires exemplary interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with patients and families in a wide variety of sensitive situations. The specialist must demonstrate critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment, with the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, and arrival/departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines, ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience. The role also encourages patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process, enters and maintains confidential and accurate patient information (including insurance, billing, and payment information), and assists with billing functions or directs to the appropriate office. The specialist must demonstrate proficiency in emergency codes and responses, as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations. Additionally, they will monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment. Effective communication skills are essential to support a diverse patient population, with Spanish language proficiency being preferred to enhance communication with patients and families.
