About The Position

This role is for a Patient Service Specialist at Atrium Health Ballantyne Neurosurgery. The position is full-time, working Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The primary focus is on providing excellent patient experience through compassionate customer service, managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, cash receipting, and ensuring accurate patient information is entered and maintained. The role also involves assisting with billing functions, monitoring inventory of medications and equipment, and demonstrating proficiency in emergency codes and healthcare regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Customer relations experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Medical Records Software preferred.
  • Front desk practice experience preferred.

  • Manage patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience.
  • Encourage patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process.
  • Enter and maintain confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter.
  • Assist with billing functions accurately and/or direct to appropriate billing office.
  • Demonstrate proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations.
  • Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
