The Patient Service Specialist is responsible for reviewing and documenting patient identification, placing armbands on patients, and utilizing effective communication skills with patients, visitors, co-workers, management, and physicians. This role ensures compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations pertaining to the registration process and information flow. The specialist provides continuity in departmental operations, refers patients to Patient Financial Resource Services (PFRS) when necessary, and assists departmental staff in creating a caring and compassionate environment. They also provide age/developmentally appropriate skills when assisting families, patients, and visitors.
