Organization: Speech Pathology - Support Sta Job Summary: Provides service to patient before, during or post-appointment with minimal guidance. Facilitates efficient workflow, supports appropriate use of technology, and engages in effective communication. Navigates complex patients to include scheduling with multiple services or coordination with outside facilities or providers. . Position Hours Monday - Friday Days Department Summary Monroe Carell’s Speech-Language Pathology team provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment services for children with communication, feeding, and swallowing disorders. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, speech-language pathologists partner with families and healthcare providers to deliver individualized care that supports each child’s developmental and functional needs. Team members also collaborate with the Pediatric Aerodigestive Clinic to assess and manage medically complex children with airway, pulmonary, digestive, sleep, and feeding disorders. Through an integrated, patient-centered approach, the program is dedicated to improving communication skills, feeding outcomes, and overall quality of life for pediatric patients and their families.

Requirements

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE (Intermediate): A continuing focus on the needs and requirements of customers, anticipating their needs, remaining sensitive to customers while performing services for them, responsive to customer needs.
  • PATIENT SCHEDULING (Novice): The ability to coordinate and schedule patient appointments, procedures and other office visits with various computer systems in the hospital or clinic.
  • PATIENT DOCUMENTATION (Novice): The ability to receive and record patient information.
  • MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY & DOCUMENTATION (Novice): The ability to comprehend medical terminology and
  • APPOINTMENT & PRODECURAL SCHEDULING (Fundamental Awareness): The ability to coordinate and schedule diagnostic testing and procedures within various computer systems in the hospital.
  • Experience Level: 1 year
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently performs all Associate Patient Service Specialist job responsibilities.
  • Schedules appointments and procedures through clinical communication, work queues, and patient portal messages
  • Manages registration and patient work queues.
  • Coordinates with patients and/or outside facilities to ensure all pre-appointment orders and consults have been received and ready to view prior to patient visit.
  • Communicates with patients through the patient portal using critical decision making to route appropriately as applicable.
