The Patient Service Representative is responsible for performing all job duties in a way that conforms to our customer service philosophy and consistent with our "AIDET" standards. This role involves greeting and acknowledging patients and family members, introducing them to services, providing information on expected wait times, explaining the need for demographic and financial information, and safeguarding patient information. The representative will also collect co-insurance and co-payments, identify insurance coverage and benefits, and resolve issues related to patient eligibility and in-network status. For uninsured patients, they will screen for urgent status, follow charity procedures, and refer for financial counseling. They will also screen orders for compliance, work with physicians and care coordinators to resolve issues, and manage security authorization and precertification for inpatient and outpatient services. Additionally, the role involves maintaining knowledge of computer software for eligibility verification, identifying at-risk balances related to Medicare and Medicaid, communicating potential financial impacts to patients, and collecting/analyzing clinical data for prior authorization. The representative must stay current on insurance requirements, federal and state regulations, and ensure completion of policies for Primary Care Physician identification for HMO plans. They are responsible for pre-registration and registration accuracy, including accurate entry of patient demographic and insurance information, pre-registering and registering patients, educating patients on required documents, managing calls for pre-registrations, and processing required documents. The role also includes participating in departmental team building activities, in-services, and other duties as assigned by leadership.
