About The Position

Scripps Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative for the Radiology department at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley. This benefitted full-time role is 80 hours per pay period and has a varied schedule that includes evenings and weekends. The representative is on the front line of the patient experience and supports accurate registration, appointment coordination, payments, referrals, and customer service.

Requirements

Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in customer service or a healthcare/medical office environment.
Ability to adapt, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance, and billing guidelines.
Knowledge of ACA requirements, DRGs, Medical ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and CPT/HCPC codes and modifiers.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients and providers to gather information for accurate registration.
Assign Medical Record Numbers, schedule appointments, collect point-of-service payments, collect documents, and perform checkout functions.
Respond to customer billing and payment inquiries.
Manage patient check-in and check-out, including verifying identification, confirming demographic and insurance information, and ensuring forms are provided, signed, and witnessed.
Prepare end-of-day reporting and payment reconciliation accurately.
Schedule and confirm appointments in person or by phone and enter appropriate insurance information.
Initiate and validate referrals and authorizations.
Listen to patients, take ownership of solutions, and recognize when leadership involvement is needed to resolve concerns.
