This full-time position is within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle department at Lake Norman, NC. The Patient Service Representative I is responsible for creating the initial electronic health record, preventing duplicate records, and ensuring patient safety through proper identification. They will also handle patient check-in, registration, collection of co-pays, and verification of demographic and insurance information. This role requires maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, understanding insurance basics, and knowing when to refer patients to Financial Advocates. The representative will also ensure compliance with government regulations such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and others, obtain necessary signatures, and may schedule patient appointments. Additionally, they will provide detailed information to patients regarding preparations and procedures, create a welcoming environment, answer telephones, and manage electronic health record work queues.
