This part-time position is responsible for creating the initial electronic health record, which is fundamental for all healthcare team members. The role involves preventing duplicate medical records, ensuring patient safety through positive identification, and managing patient check-in and registration. Key duties include obtaining and verifying demographic, guarantor, and insurance information, collecting co-pays, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. The representative must understand insurance basics, Advocate Health contracts, and financial responsibilities, referring patients to Financial Advocates when necessary. They also ensure compliance with government regulations such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and others, obtaining required signatures. The role may involve scheduling appointments, coordinating cancellations and reschedules, and providing detailed information about test preparations and facility procedures. A significant aspect of the role is creating a welcoming environment through exceptional customer service, greeting patients, answering phones, and offering assistance with transportation, directions, wheelchairs, and interpreter services. The representative will also monitor and work assigned electronic health record work queues.
