This is a part-time (16 hours per week) position with every other weekend rotation, working from 7 AM to 3 PM. The role is responsible for creating the initial electronic health record, preventing duplicate records, and ensuring patient safety through positive identification. Key duties include checking in and registering patients, verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting co-pays, maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, and understanding insurance basics and Advocate Health contracts. The position also involves discussing financial obligations with patients, referring them to Financial Advocates when necessary, and ensuring compliance with government regulations such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and others. Responsibilities may include scheduling appointments, coordinating cancellations and reschedules, providing detailed information about test preparations and facility directions, and creating a welcoming environment through excellent customer service. The role also involves answering telephones, monitoring electronic health record work queues, and performing other related duties as assigned.
