About The Position

The Patient Service Rep Dental is responsible for greeting patients warmly and professionally, managing demographic and insurance information in the electronic medical record system, and assisting patients with forms. This role involves collecting co-payments and past due balances, balancing cash drawers, and scheduling appointments according to department guidelines. The representative will also handle administrative duties, coordinate dental referrals, verify prior authorizations, and ensure payments for specific services. Additionally, they will follow procedures for STAT tests, assist in coordinating patient care by reviewing instructions and referrals, and complete department-specific projects. Adherence to all regulations, policies, and work practices is required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a warm, welcoming, and professional manner, utilizing excellent customer service skills.
  • Enter and verify all demographic information into the electronic medical record system.
  • Enter, scan, and verify all insurance information into electronic medical records.
  • Distribute forms to patients with necessary explanation and assistance, and collect completed forms.
  • Collect co-payments and past due balances, and complete end-of-day processes to balance cash drawers.
  • Maintain cash box during each shift to ensure all cash-box money is accounted for.
  • Schedule patient appointments accurately according to department scheduling guidelines.
  • Check in-basket daily and complete pending tasks.
  • Complete reminder calls daily.
  • Assist with waitlist management.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as faxing, copying, mail, and reports.
  • Assist in coordinating Dental referrals.
  • Verify prior authorization statuses.
  • Ensure payments are received for denture and partial services.
  • Follow proper process for STAT tests ordered by provider.
  • Assist in coordinating patient care, including verbally reviewing patient instructions, orders, labs, and referrals, and completing necessary follow-up.
  • Complete department-specific projects, such as patient tracking and follow-up.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work practices, and instructions.
