About The Position

The Patient Service Representative Dental is responsible for greeting patients warmly and professionally, utilizing excellent customer service skills. This role involves accurately entering and verifying demographic and insurance information into the electronic medical record system, distributing and collecting patient forms, and managing co-payments and past due balances. The representative will also be responsible for balancing the cash drawer, scheduling appointments according to department guidelines, and completing daily tasks such as checking the in-basket and making reminder calls. Additional duties include assisting with waitlists, administrative tasks like faxing and copying, coordinating dental referrals, verifying prior authorization statuses, ensuring payments for denture and partial services, and following proper procedures for STAT tests. The role also involves other activities to coordinate patient care, such as reviewing instructions and following up on requests, and completing department-specific projects. The representative must conform to all regulations and policies, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients in a warm, welcoming, and professional manner, utilizing excellent customer service skills.
  • Enters and verifies all demographic information into the electronic medical record system.
  • Enters, scans, and verifies all insurance information into electronic medical records.
  • Distributes forms to patients with necessary explanation and assistance.
  • Collects forms from patients ensuring proper completion.
  • Collects co-payments and past due balances.
  • Ensures all money is accounted for by completing the end of day process to balance both the electronic and physical cash drawer.
  • Maintains cash box during each shift to ensure all cash-box money is accounted for.
  • Schedules patient appointments by consistently and accurately utilizing department scheduling guidelines.
  • Checks in-basket daily and completes pending tasks.
  • Completes robust reminder calls daily.
  • Assists with waitlist.
  • Assists with administrative duties (faxing, copying, mail, reports, etc.).
  • Assists in coordinating Dental referrals.
  • Verifies prior authorization statuses.
  • Ensures payments are received for denture and partial services.
  • Follows proper process for STAT tests ordered by provider.
  • Other activities that assist with coordination of patient care (verbally review patient instructions, orders, labs, referrals) as well as necessary follow-up to complete these requests.
  • Completes department-specific projects, such as patient tracking and follow-up.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions.
