The Patient Service Associate is responsible for coordinating patient appointment scheduling by registering patients, updating insurance information, and scheduling visits. This role involves interacting with a diverse patient population and utilizing the electronic medical record to maintain patient records. The associate will also be knowledgeable about state and government agencies for patient consents, work with facilities for proxy consents, and understand payer requirements for referrals and authorizations. Additionally, they will schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and prior authorizations, communicate professionally with all parties, answer incoming phone calls, and maintain a professional image through adherence to the dress code. The role also includes preparing patient disability and out-of-work/school paperwork, discussing financial obligations, explaining regulatory forms, and working in multiple systems to ensure accurate registration and support clinical workflow. The associate is expected to understand the practice and hospital strategic plan, support departmental policies and procedures, represent Albany Medical Center, and exemplify guiding principles to ensure an optimal patient experience, while promoting patient and employee safety.
