The Patient Service Associate in the HBD - Otolaryngology department is responsible for coordinating patient appointment scheduling, including registering patients, updating insurance information, and scheduling visits. This role involves interacting with a diverse patient population and utilizing the electronic medical record to maintain patient records. The associate must be knowledgeable about state and government agency requirements for patient consents, as well as payer requirements for referrals and authorizations. They will also schedule follow-up appointments and communicate professionally with providers, patients, clinical care teams, and insurance companies. Additionally, the role includes answering phone calls, conveying a professional image through adherence to the dress code, and preparing patient paperwork for disability and out-of-work/school situations. The associate will discuss financial obligations, explain regulatory forms, and answer related questions. They will work in multiple systems to ensure accurate registration and support clinical workflow, while also understanding and supporting the practice and hospital's strategic plans, policies, and initiatives. A key aspect of this role is championing an optimal patient experience and promoting patient and employee safety.
