This role is responsible for registering patients, updating insurance information, scheduling visits, and other duties as assigned to coordinate patient appointment scheduling. The Patient Service Associate will interact with a diverse patient population, utilize the electronic medical record to maintain patient records, and be knowledgeable with state and government agencies to provide proper consents. They will also be knowledgeable of and adhere to payer requirements for referrals and authorization, schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and prior authorizations, and communicate professionally and timely with all parties. The role also involves answering incoming phone calls and directing them appropriately, and conveying a professional image by adhering to the established dress code. Essential duties include the registration and scheduling process for complex patients, updating the system with registration, scheduling, and insurance information, preparing patient disability and out of work/school paperwork, discussing financial obligations, explaining regulatory forms, and answering questions. The associate will work in multiple systems during patient-facing interactions and telephone call receipts to complete accurate registration and support the clinical workflow. They will understand the practice and hospital strategic plan, support plans, policies, procedures, and initiatives within their scope, represent the organization, and exemplify guiding principles to ensure an optimal patient experience. Promoting patient and employee safety is a top priority, including fostering a safe environment and promptly reporting issues.
