About The Position

This is a 6-month position with potential for conversion to full-time. Cedar Point Health is built around the idea of taking care of people, prioritizing both patients and staff. This role is responsible for patient contacts for new appointments, recalls, no-shows, rescheduled appointments, follow-up appointments, and "lost" patients (those not seen in over a year), ensuring a pleasant scheduling experience. Medical Translation Spanish Certification (CHI or CMI) is valued and may lead to additional compensation. A background check will be performed with an offer of employment.

  • Ability to learn medical practice protocols and the EHR scheduling system
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques
  • Ability and desire to learn medical terminology
  • Knowledge of basic math and modern office procedures
  • Ability to multitask effectively, dealing with phone calls to and from patients, and others in the office in a pleasant manner
  • Ability to communicate calmly and clearly with patients about appointments in all circumstances including when they are ill or have an emergency, and without taking offense
  • Ability to analyze situations and respond appropriately
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patient records
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in a customer service role
  • Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a service representative that are mostly sedentary with occasional standing, walking, reaching.
  • Periodic stress occurs from handling many calls and dealing with patient requests.
  • The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, labs, hospitals, nursing homes, and other members of the public on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Makes and takes calls with courtesy and compassion, and informs patients of visit requirements.
  • Facilitates patient flow and communicates changes with patients and clinical staff.
  • Explains financial requirements to the patients or responsible parties.
  • Schedules appointments using EHR for patients, makes reminder calls one business day before appointments and maintains the schedule (e.g. cancellations or additions) to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
