About The Position

MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Patient Scheduler to join its team. The role gathers and verifies patient information, including demographics and insurance details, for appointments scheduled at the organization’s facilities and physician practices. Requirements

• Ability to handle a large volume of incoming and outgoing calls.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including effective listening, clear communication, problem resolution, and a warm demeanor.
• At least one year of customer service experience; healthcare experience is preferred.
• Experience using common electronic tools such as email, data retrieval, voicemail, and the internet or intranet.
• Ability to effectively use and enter information in an electronic medical record (EMR).

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
• Communicate with medical and clinical staff to confirm facility and staff availability and obtain preauthorizations at the time of scheduling.
• Communicate with patients and, when permissible, their families to provide pre-procedure instructions and confirm appointments.
• Collect demographic and insurance information and preauthorizations as needed for scheduled encounters.
