About The Position

The Patient Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patients who require admission, diagnostic procedures, treatment services, or classes. The role ensures referrals are received and reviewed for accuracy, staffed appropriately and promptly, and entered into the computer-based scheduling system. The scheduler gathers required patient demographic, clinical, and financial information and coordinates appointments with clinical and clerical staff. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years of related work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of scheduling procedures.
• Knowledge of services offered to support accurate client scheduling.
• Communication skills.
• Customer-oriented service skills.
• Proficiency with telephone equipment, voicemail, and computers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive telephone requests for services and referrals.
• Follow protocols for same-day (“day of”) requests, preparation instructions, emergencies, and rescheduling.
• Maintain required logs for referrals, referral sources, missed visits, and complaints.
• Coordinate scheduling for patients requiring admissions, diagnostic procedures, and classes.
• Gather patient demographic, clinical, financial, and other information required by referral or central intake forms.
• Coordinate appointments and classes with appropriate clinical and clerical staff.
• Participate in the payroll process to help ensure time slips are accurate, complete, and legible.
• May support recruitment and hiring and have on-call responsibilities if supporting the agency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
