About The Position

Provide safe patient monitoring for patients requiring safety sitting and or suicide observation. The PST provides safe monitoring under the direction of the RN professional to all assigned patients. Assumes responsibility and accountability for patient safety as a team member in order to achieve established outcomes. Responsible for providing continuous observation and appropriate documentation on activity of an assigned patient who has been identified as having increased risk for injury.

Responsibilities

Provides ADL's and protects Patients in Sitter and Spotter assignments from self-harm and prevent elopements.
Makes continuous rounds.
Assists with Activities of Daily Living such as toileting and feeding
Monitor patients for Safety and suicide risk
Orients patient and uses distraction techniques
Ability to recognize behaviors of self-harm and responds immediately
Adheres to all infection prevention protocols
maintains a clean and safe patient room
Travels with patients during off unit testing
Documents electronic 1:1 suicide observation
Performs other related duties as assigned.
