About The Position

The Patient Representative (PSR) - EEG General position is at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, part of Hartford HealthCare. This role involves performing secretarial, billing, and clerical duties under the direction of the Site Supervisor and/or Department Director. The Patient Representative supports clinical staff to provide optimal service to patients by managing appointments, processing charges, coordinating referrals, and handling patient information. The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic math and computer operating skills required.
• Exemplary customer service skills.
• Excellent interpersonal written and verbal skills are required.
• Ability to work and handle a fast-paced diversified working environment.
• Requires effective organizational and interpersonal skills needed for anticipating and reacting to various needs of both patients and medical personnel.
• Ability to multi-task and address multiple priorities simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

• Past experience working in a medical office highly preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and outpatient third-party reimbursement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the electronic medical record (EMR) to schedule initial evaluations and follow-up appointments.
• Process patient charges.
• Coordinate referrals.
• Prepare proper paperwork and collect pertinent patient information.
• Answer phones.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Provide support to clinical staff to provide optimum service to patients.
