The Patient Representative is responsible for greeting, instructing, and scheduling patients, registering them into the computer system, and determining their insurance benefits. This role serves as a liaison between the patient and clinical support staff. The Patient Representative must maintain strict confidentiality, greet patients courteously, check-in patients, verify and update demographic and insurance information, assist patients with ambulatory difficulties, follow office scheduling policies, and collect payments and enter charges into the computer system. They will also register new patients, answer the telephone, screen calls, take messages, and convey information to appropriate parties. Maintaining a neat and orderly work and reception area, advising the Practice Manager of front office issues, and attending educational and staff meetings are also key responsibilities. The role requires determining and inputting the daily balance of charges and receipts, following established policies and procedures, adhering to OSHA Regulations, and working collaboratively with other staff members to foster a team approach for high-quality patient care and clinic efficiency.
