About The Position

Fairview is hiring a Patient Registration Representative for its Primary Care Clinic in Apple Valley, Minnesota. This is a 1.0 FTE position, defined as 80 hours per two-week pay period, and is fully benefits-eligible. Clinic hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; there are no weekend hours. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, the representative helps create a welcoming experience while ensuring accurate and efficient registration, scheduling, and financial processes. The role includes registering and scheduling patients, verifying insurance and demographic information, maintaining patient accounts, and arranging payment for self-pay balances before and during appointments.

Completion of a medical terminology course or equivalent experience and education.

Responsibilities

Register patients and verify insurance and demographic information according to established guidelines.
Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, contract group number, effective dates and coverage, correct insurance, and billing address.
Inform patients about insurance copays or self-pay policies and document the information in patient accounts for front desk staff.
Monitor patient account balances and inform patients of outstanding balances to ensure appropriate financial arrangements.
Research and facilitate patient questions and concerns according to established guidelines and procedures.
Maintain knowledge of and comply with relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
Participate in creating and implementing improvements.
Occasionally answer incoming calls from patients or internal team members to assist with patient care.
Schedule appointments with the specified clinician according to scheduling guidelines, patient needs, and clinician availability.
