About The Position

The Patient Navigator is responsible for working with patients to schedule their appointments, understand their financial obligations, and set up arrangements before tests are performed. This role reports directly to the Director of Patient Services.

Requirements

High School graduate with related subjects in general business.
Computer knowledge
Medical terminology.
Great customer service skills.
General office experience preferably with insurance claims knowledge.
Ability to operate various office machines.
Ability to work independently and make reasonable decisions while maintaining confidentiality.
Demonstrates support for organizational and departmental mission.
Supports and demonstrates knowledge of the Strategic Plan and the Hospital Key Initiatives.
Fosters and promotes teamwork within department and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

Works daily ARM work list for scheduled appointments for hospital ancillary services.
Runs eligibility and provides patients with estimates of cost of service and self-pay quotes through IPAS or other means.
Reviews each department’s schedule and obtains authorization if required, adds authorization number and notates in Meditech ARM module. If any additional information is needed before the test will be notated on the account or in scheduling.
Reviews account for all possible sources of payment including Medicaid.
Assists the patient with payment arrangements and/or financial assistance application.
Registers all patients with verification of patient and insurance information.
Utilizes insurance verification equipment, fax machine, PC software, DCS Global IPAS, phone contact and WELL App.
Responds to telephone; routes calls and takes accurate messages.
Maintains worklist & scheduling daily.
Always provides the best customer service possible. Asks questions as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
