About The Position

The Barista position at Brightspot is a full-time role requiring a willingness to perform routine tasks with frequent interruptions and a need for numerical ability for tasks like cashing out customers and recipe preparation. Good motor coordination and manual dexterity are essential for preparing food items and serving customers. The Barista must be able to work flexible hours and maintain a patient and courteous demeanor towards guests, staff, patients, and family members at all times. This role is part of the Food Services & Dietetics category and operates on a rotating Saturday schedule with morning to afternoon shifts.

Requirements

  • One (1) year related experience and/or training in food production.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow directions, recipes, and work assignments.
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Numerical ability for cashing out customers, recipe preparation, and proper measuring ingredients.
  • Good motor coordination and manual dexterity for various work routines.
  • Able and willing to work flexible hours.
  • Patient toward guests, staff, patients, and family members at all times.
  • Reading, Writing, Reasoning, Talking, Keyboarding skills.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares beverages and food items according to recipes.
  • Helps prep all areas of the Café.
  • Operates computerized cash register system to ring up purchases.
  • Finalizes cash and non-cash methods of payment and follows established cash-handling policies and procedures.
  • Ensures customers are taken care of and the department looks great at all times.
  • Counts money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure correct amounts and adequate change.
  • Follows Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies and procedures.
  • Practices safety, infection control, and emergency procedures according to facility policies.
  • Assists in the receiving and storing of food and supplies as needed.
  • Communicates courteously, considerately, and cooperatively with all guests, team members, clinical support personnel, and client personnel.
  • Performs job correctly and safely, observes rules of conduct, is dependable, and meets schedule requirements (attendance and punctuality) with no restrictions.
  • Actively practices principles learned, including Universal precautions, fire and disaster, safety, MSDS, CQI, etc.
  • Consistently uses proper safety equipment and follows rules of conduct safety.
  • Knows where MSDS information is located.
  • Demonstrates high standards of personal hygiene according to departmental policy, including using proper hand washing technique, observing hospital "no smoking" policy, wearing a hairnet or hat in the food production area, and maintaining a neat appearance.
