About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for patient triage and education, assisting physicians during office hours, and following up on prescriptions, procedures, and tests. The RN maintains chart documentation to ensure visit information is complete and accurately recorded. The position supports patient assessment and care, performs physician-directed tests and treatments, and helps ensure information is documented in the Electronic Health Record.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited nursing program.
Current State RN nursing license.
Current CPR certification.
At least two years of clinical experience working in a physician office.

Responsibilities

Assist in assessing patient needs and treatment plans by taking vital signs and blood pressure, recording patient history and medications, and determining the chief complaint; provide physicians with assessments of patient condition.
Perform tests as directed by a physician.
Prepare equipment and assist physicians with medical treatments, examinations, and procedures.
Draw lab specimens and prepare them for transport, including completing lab forms and/or entering information into a computer.
Administer prescribed oral medications and give intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
Assist with patient teaching and instructions.
Triage patients to identify emergencies, provide immediate support when necessary, and notify the provider of medical emergencies.
Assist in developing and documenting patient care protocols, procedures, and patient education materials.
Compile and analyze medical, statistical, and operational data, and prepare reports to measure outcomes and program efficacy.
Review treatment forms to verify that information needed to maximize reimbursement has been identified; route relevant patient information to appropriate department personnel.
Ensure information is appropriately entered into the Electronic Health Record.
Follow up on prescriptions, procedures, and tests.
Maintain complete and accurate chart documentation for patient visits.
