About The Position

Come join our Patient Monitor Observer team at the Sanford Medical Center! We provide continuous video observation for patients who need extra support to stay safe. Using our video surveillance system, you’ll keep an eye on patient activity, watch for any signs they may need assistance, and notify the nursing team right away if something looks concerning. This role is all about ensuring patient safety through steady attention and clear communication. The Monitor Tech provides support services. Some duties include: basic computer keyboarding skills, tearing down and assembling patient charts as appropriate, calling other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures as needed, and stocking supplies. In addition, the monitor tech will be responsible in monitoring and interpreting patient heart rhythms and vital signs as well as following set algorithm parameters that may raise alarms. Ability to interpret alarms and follow through with appropriate communication as needed. Depending on location, the monitor tech may also be providing continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Follows set algorithms, interprets alarming events, and follows through with appropriate communication as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
