About The Position
Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Monitor Observer to join their team at the Sanford Medical Center. This role involves providing continuous video observation for patients requiring extra support to ensure their safety. The observer will monitor patient activity via a video surveillance system, identify any signs of distress or need for assistance, and promptly notify the nursing team of any concerning situations. The primary focus of this position is to guarantee patient safety through vigilant attention and effective communication.
Requirements
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous video observation for patients who need extra support to stay safe.
- Keep an eye on patient activity using a video surveillance system.
- Watch for any signs that a patient may need assistance.
- Notify the nursing team right away if something looks concerning.
- Ensure patient safety through steady attention and clear communication.
- Monitor and interpret patient heart rhythms and vital signs.
- Follow set algorithm parameters that may raise alarms.
- Interpret alarms and follow through with appropriate communication as needed.
- Summon nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
- Perform basic computer keyboarding skills.
- Tear down and assemble patient charts as appropriate.
- Call other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures as needed.
- Stock supplies.
