About The Position

Under the direction of the Patient Financial Services Cashier Team Lead and/or the Patient Financial Services (PFS) Assistant Director, the PFS Cashier is responsible for the daily preparation, posting, and balancing of payments, adjustments and denials from healthcare third party insurance payers and patients to patient claims. The core responsibilities of a Cash Cashier are to both accurately and efficiently enter remittance information provided from the insurance carriers and patients, while ensuring the integrity of financial transactions within the patient accounting system. This role plays a critical part in supporting the organization’s revenue cycle by ensuring timely cash application, maintaining accuracy, and assisting in the reduction of unapplied cash and payment discrepancies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 years' prior healthcare billing experience and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel applications.
  • Must be able to adapt to system changes, manage heavy call volume, be a self-starter, organized, detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree and or certifications in billing and coding preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking is a plus.
