About The Position

The Patient Financial Counselor is responsible for assisting patients with financial matters related to their healthcare. This includes tasks such as insurance verification, understanding revenue cycle functions, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines. The role requires strong communication, organizational, and time management skills, with a compassionate approach to helping patients in need.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of work experience with insurance verification, revenue cycle functions, hospital/physician offices, or related areas required.
  • Knowledge of payer reimbursement processes and insurance terminology required.
  • Basic understanding of procedure codes (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding, etc.).
  • Ability to maintain and respect confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Must be highly effective in working objectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Must demonstrate communication, organizational, administrative and time managerial skills.
  • Must be compassionate about helping those in need.
  • Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in healthcare administration or equivalent college coursework preferred.
